Lauren Mason, the co-founder of Retribe, shared with the BBC that there’s a big misconception about what happens to these tents. Many people think they get cleaned up or donated, but that’s rarely the case. Lauren hopes to spread the word and encourage festival-goers to stop leaving their tents behind.
Instead of seeing these tents go to waste, Retribe gives them a second life. Emily Cornwaithe, one of their talented designers, loves incorporating tent materials into their creations. “It’s a really cool thing, I think, to look like you’re wearing a repurposed tent,” she says. Lauren adds, “What you get is something really original, really sustainable.”
