Authorities reported that a migrant, Leonardo Andujar Sanchez, was allegedly caught with an AR-15 rifle and nearly $1 million worth of drugs at a Quality Inn in Revere, Massachusetts, currently being used as a temporary shelter.
“This is outrageous,” Gov. Healey stated. “It’s unacceptable that someone would exploit our shelter system for criminal activity.”
Sanchez, a 28-year-old native of the Dominican Republic, is now facing serious charges, including firearm possession and drug trafficking. Reports revealed he was in possession of ammunition, high-capacity magazines, and significant quantities of fentanyl and cocaine with an estimated street value of $750,000.

In response, Healey has ordered an immediate inspection of shelter facilities, beginning with the site in Revere, and a full review of the state’s intake processes. “We need to ensure these spaces are safe for families seeking refuge. We need a comprehensive border security and immigration reform plan that prevents criminals from entering our communities while continuing to provide sanctuary to those in genuine need.”
