In a dramatic and highly strategic move, the U.S. military has successfully neutralized a high-ranking ISIS leader in northern Somalia. The operation, conducted early Saturday morning and ordered by President Trump, targeted a cave complex that had been serving as a key hideout for ISIS operatives.
Dr. Sebastian Gorka, a senior national security official, confirmed the White House’s intent to release the video footage of the strike. “We are working diligently to scrub the footage and make it available to the public in an unclassified format,” he stated. This means that soon, Americans will be able to see firsthand the precision and impact of this mission.
For years, ISIS has been strengthening its presence in northern Somalia, building operational sanctuaries and planning external attacks. According to Gorka, this strike eliminated a top “High-Value Target”—an ISIS leader responsible for recruiting and training terrorists to carry out attacks against Western nations, including the U.S.
The strike was executed with pinpoint accuracy using F-18 fighter jets deployed from the USS Harry S. Truman. U.S. Africa Command confirmed that multiple ISIS operatives were eliminated, and no civilians were harmed
Gorka made it clear: “If you threaten American lives, we will find you and we will kill you.” He also highlighted how the Trump administration is taking a proactive stance against terrorism.
“This operation was presented to President Trump on Thursday evening,” he explained. “He immediately asked if this individual posed a threat to American citizens and servicemen. When the answer was yes, he didn’t hesitate—he signed the order on the spot.” By Saturday morning, less than two days later, the mission was executed.
The decisive action taken under Trump’s leadership has been met with immense support from national security and military personnel. According to Gorka, many in the intelligence and defense communities had grown frustrated under the previous administration, where crucial counterterrorism operations were allegedly delayed or denied.
“There was a real morale problem,” Gorka revealed. “Our forces were tracking these terrorists, watching them for 12-hour shifts, pleading to take action, but they were being told no.”
Now, that has changed. The swift action taken on this operation marks a turning point and signals a return to America-first policies that prioritize security and decisive military engagement.
The White House is expected to release the footage of the strike in an upcoming press briefing, where National Security Adviser Mike Waltz will provide additional details.
This successful strike serves as a strong warning to terrorists worldwide: The United States will not stand by and watch threats grow. American leadership is back in full force.
