President Donald Trump has once again made it clear that the United States stands with the people of Greenland—and if they ever decide to join the U.S., they will be welcomed with open arms. Not only that, but Trump is pledging billions in investment to boost Greenland’s economy and create new jobs.

Trump laid out his vision in a bold post on Truth Social, reminding Greenlanders that America has kept them safe since World War II and is prepared to help them prosper like never before:

“As I made clear during my Joint Address to Congress, the United States strongly supports the people of Greenland’s right to determine their own future. We will continue to KEEP YOU SAFE, as we have since World War II. We are ready to INVEST BILLIONS OF DOLLARS to create new jobs and MAKE YOU RICH—And, if you so choose, we welcome you to be part of the Greatest Nation anywhere in the World, the United States of America!”

Greenland, though often overlooked, is one of the most strategically important locations in the world. Sitting between North America and Europe, the massive island is rich in rare earth minerals, oil, and natural gas—resources that could strengthen America’s energy independence and economic future.

That’s why Trump has long been interested in Greenland, famously suggesting in 2019 that the U.S. should consider purchasing the island from Denmark. While the idea was laughed off by critics at the time, Trump’s strategic instincts have once again proven correct. In recent years, China and Russia have aggressively expanded their interests in the Arctic, and the Biden administration has failed to push back in any meaningful way.

By bringing Greenland into the fold, Trump sees an opportunity to fortify America’s defenses, protect vital resources, and support an ally that has historically depended on the U.S. for security.

Greenland’s Prime Minister Múte Egede wasted no time rejecting Trump’s latest remarks, declaring that Greenland is “not for sale and will never be for sale.” He doubled down, saying:

“Greenland is ours. We must not lose our long struggle for freedom.”

But here’s the reality: Greenland may not technically be “for sale,” but Denmark is clearly nervous about the idea of Greenland moving closer to the U.S. In January, Denmark suddenly announced a $2 billion investment in Arctic security, an amount that conveniently follows years of warnings from Trump about the region’s vulnerability to Russian and Chinese influence.

It’s no secret that Greenland has been growing increasingly independent from Denmark in recent years. Many Greenlanders want full independence—but they also know that Denmark cannot provide the economic and military support that the United States can. If Greenland truly wants freedom, prosperity, and security, aligning with America is the logical next step.

During his Joint Address to Congress, Trump reiterated his support for Greenland’s self-determination. He emphasized that the United States would respect whatever decision Greenlanders make—but also made it clear that if they choose to join America, they will be embraced as part of the “greatest nation in the world.”

Then, in classic Trump fashion, he added an ad-lib that has sent shockwaves through global media:

“One way or the other, we’re going to get it.”

Some took this as a joke. Others saw it as a serious declaration of intent. Either way, Trump’s statement has once again shifted the conversation, forcing world leaders to acknowledge what the media refuses to admit:

The United States needs Greenland—and Greenland may soon realize it needs the United States.

Trump has made no secret of his belief that U.S. control over Greenland is an absolute necessity for national security and global freedom. His newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to Denmark, Ken Howery, has echoed this sentiment, highlighting the urgent need for America to solidify its presence in the Arctic.

With Russia threatening Arctic stability, China snapping up mineral rights, and Denmark scrambling to hold on to its territory, the situation is evolving quickly. And once again, it’s Trump—not Biden—who is leading the conversation about America’s future on the world stage.

Will Greenland officially become part of the United States? That remains to be seen. But one thing is clear:

His vision for economic investment, military strength, and strategic alliances isn’t just about Greenland—it’s about restoring American leadership in the world. And if history has taught us anything, it’s that when Trump sets his sights on a goal, he doesn’t back down.

The question now is: Will Greenlanders choose a future with the United States?

Only time will tell.
