In a bold move to restore economic sanity and put American workers first, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin made it clear: We don’t have to choose between protecting the environment and growing the economy—we can do both.
Speaking on Breitbart News Saturday with Washington bureau chief Matt Boyle, Zeldin detailed the largest deregulatory effort in U.S. history, aimed at revitalizing the coal industry, slashing regulatory costs, and lowering the cost of living for hard-working Americans.
Rolling Back Biden’s Green Bureaucracy
On Wednesday, Zeldin announced a sweeping set of 31 deregulations, including the termination of the Biden administration’s radical “Environmental Justice” (EJ) and “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” (DEI) initiatives within the EPA.
“Undoubtedly, we’re going to be able to create jobs, including inside the American auto sector,” Zeldin stated. “We will bring down the cost of living. It’s going to be easier to heat your home, to purchase a vehicle, and to operate a business.”
This initiative falls in line with President Donald Trump’s America First economic vision. By cutting red tape and eliminating unnecessary environmental mandates, the administration is putting more power—and money—back in the hands of American citizens.
Restoring Energy Independence and Consumer Choice
For years, the Biden administration focused more on ideological climate crusades than on addressing the real concerns of American families. Under Biden’s policies, energy costs soared, businesses faced suffocating regulations, and consumers were forced into expensive and unreliable electric vehicle (EV) options.
Zeldin’s announcement signals a dramatic shift. Among the most significant rollbacks:
- Eliminating Biden’s EV Mandate: Americans will no longer be forced to buy electric vehicles they don’t want or can’t afford. Instead, they’ll have the freedom to choose gas-powered cars without being punished by excessive government interference.
- Saving the Coal Industry: The Trump administration is reaffirming its commitment to American energy independence. “President Trump talks about clean, beautiful coal, and what we’re doing is going to save the coal industry,” Zeldin said. This means more jobs, lower electricity bills, and a stronger economy.
- Cutting $2 Billion in Wasteful DEI and EJ Grants: The EPA has already terminated 400 grants dedicated to Biden’s ideological pet projects that did nothing to improve the environment but drained taxpayer dollars.
- Holding Biden’s EPA Accountable for $20 Billion in Lost Climate Funds: The Trump administration is determined to recover the billions wasted on radical climate programs, ensuring that taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and efficiently.
Common Sense Environmentalism, Not Radical Activism
Zeldin also pledged to tackle the backlog of clean air cases that the Biden administration ignored in favor of its climate change agenda. While radical leftists claim deregulation will harm the environment, Zeldin emphasized that responsible policies can ensure clean air and water while fostering economic growth.
“I’ve been told that we’re going after the holy grail of the climate change religion,” Zeldin said, pushing back against the left’s fear-mongering. “I would just say this: we can protect the environment and grow the economy. It’s not a binary choice.”
Under the leadership of President Trump and Administrator Zeldin, the EPA is returning to its core mission—serving the American people, not pushing left-wing ideology. With these historic deregulatory efforts, Americans can expect a future with lower costs, more jobs, and energy policies that put our country first.
Stay tuned as this administration continues to deliver on its promise to cut waste, rein in government overreach, and unleash American prosperity once again.
