Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard is making good on President Donald Trump’s promise to eliminate radical and wasteful government spending, saving taxpayers tens of millions of dollars by cutting unnecessary diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, as well as other bloated expenditures.
Breitbart News has learned exclusively that Gabbard, under Trump’s leadership, has aggressively taken steps to root out the left’s ideological infiltration of government agencies, particularly within the intelligence community.
One of Trump’s first executive orders upon returning to the White House was to end DEI programs across federal agencies, which he described as “illegal and immoral discrimination” forced into nearly every aspect of government operations under the Biden administration.
“The Biden Administration forced illegal and immoral discrimination programs, going by the name ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ (DEI), into virtually all aspects of the Federal Government, in areas ranging from airline safety to the military,” Trump’s executive order stated on January 20.
Now, Gabbard is taking decisive action to implement these reforms in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).
Massive Savings: Gabbard Cuts DEI and Wasteful Spending
Since taking office, Gabbard has already saved taxpayers tens of millions of dollars by eliminating unnecessary DEI programs, wasteful government conferences, redundant contracts, and excessive training programs.
Here’s a breakdown of the savings she’s secured so far:

✅ Scrapped unnecessary conferences – $3 million saved per year
✅ Nixed redundant program licenses – $1.4 million saved per year

✅ Reduced overhead charges on ODNI contracts – Cutting costs by 8-12%
On top of these cost-saving measures, Gabbard has also been aggressively pursuing recent intelligence leaks, revoking security clearances of Biden-era officials, and holding accountable those who signed the infamous letter attempting to discredit the Hunter Biden laptop story.
DNI Gabbard’s Mission to Restore Accountability
This is just the beginning of Gabbard’s work to restore fiscal responsibility and efficiency to the intelligence community.
As reported by Breitbart’s Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle in late February, Gabbard has taken additional steps to ensure that every dollar spent by ODNI serves its core mission of protecting Americans, rather than funding leftist ideological projects.
She has also ordered a review of ODNI personnel working outside Washington, D.C., to determine whether their roles are essential to national security. If not, those positions will be eliminated, which is expected to save taxpayers at least another $1 million per year.

Gabbard isn’t just focused on cleaning up the intelligence community’s spending—she’s also ensuring America’s national security interests are being prioritized on the world stage.
She recently returned from a high-profile trip to the Indo-Pacific, where she worked to advance President Trump’s America First foreign policy by strengthening strategic partnerships and reinforcing U.S. leadership in the region.
During her visit, she met with senior National Security Agency (NSA) officials in Hawaii, held bilateral meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and engaged with intelligence and diplomatic leaders in Japan and Thailand.
“President Trump remains unwavering in his commitment to achieving peace through a strategy rooted in realism and pragmatism,” Gabbard stated on Thursday. “Securing peace through strength requires strong leadership with a clear-eyed and realistic understanding of global challenges and opportunities, a commitment to fostering cultural and economic ties that reduce the likelihood of an escalation to conflict, and a dedication to reinforcing mutual interests.”
