Exclusive — Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis: Europe Can Find ‘Win-Win Solution’ with President Trump on Trade that Is ‘Mutually Beneficial’

ATHENS, Greece — While the European Union tiptoes around tough trade talks with the U.S., one leader is stepping up and making it clear: Greece wants to work with President Trump.

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis made a strong pitch for common ground. His message? America and Europe don’t have to be rivals. With the right leadership — and a little courage — we can build a “win-win” trade deal that benefits both sides.

“There is still room for negotiations,” Mitsotakis said. “At the end of the day, Europe and the U.S. are important to each other. We need to work out a solution.”

And he’s not wrong. As President Trump sharpens his focus on fair trade and holds foreign governments accountable — especially China — countries like Greece are signaling they want to be on the right side of the deal.

While China has been throwing tariff tantrums, Europe has taken a calmer approach to Trump’s global tariff strategy. Instead of lashing out, the EU has taken small, calculated steps — especially on steel and aluminum — but avoided more drastic moves like taxing American bourbon or other key exports.

Greece’s Prime Minister is showing even more maturity by urging cooperation over confrontation.

“There’s a European message — and there’s a Greek message,” Mitsotakis said. “I believe we can work with Trump. This can be mutually beneficial.”

That’s a refreshing contrast to the usual back-and-forth we see from Brussels bureaucrats and globalist institutions.

Beyond trade talks, Prime Minister Mitsotakis pointed to a bold new vision he shares with President Trump — the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC). This ambitious project is a U.S.-led initiative connecting the world’s largest democracies — India and the United States — through Europe and the Middle East.

Mitsotakis calls it a geopolitical game-changer and a direct challenge to China’s predatory Belt and Road Initiative.

“Greece, the birthplace of democracy, can be the bridge between India and the U.S.,” he said. “We are a strategic ally of America.”

And President Trump agrees. Just weeks ago, he praised the IMEEC deal in a Breitbart interview, calling it a coalition of nations standing strong against those who try to cheat America on trade.

“We have a powerful group of partners,” Trump said. “We can’t let those partners treat us badly. Some of our so-called friends treat us worse than our adversaries.”

That’s the straight talk that Trump voters appreciate — and now, it’s echoing across the Atlantic.

Mitsotakis didn’t just talk trade. He also laid out a tough stance on one of the hottest issues in Europe: illegal immigration. And just like Trump, he doesn’t believe in open borders.

“We followed a tough but fair migration policy,” the Greek leader said. “I was the first to push for stronger border protection.”

In 2020, Greece bucked the globalist trend in the EU and started shutting down the floodgates of illegal migration. Back then, they were the outliers. But now? Europe is catching up to what Trump conservatives have been saying for years: A nation without borders is no nation at all.

“It is not up to smugglers to decide who enters Greece,” Mitsotakis added. “I am unapologetically tough on borders.”

Sound familiar?

It’s not just border control where Mitsotakis is channeling the Trump playbook. After years of crushing debt and economic collapse, Greece is making a comeback — thanks in large part to conservative, pro-growth reforms.

“We cut taxes. We slashed red tape. We encouraged private investment,” Mitsotakis said. “Now we’re creating jobs and rebuilding the economy.”

That’s the same formula Trump used to supercharge the U.S. economy in his first term — and it’s no surprise it’s working in Greece, too.

As Trump gears up for what could be a historic return to the White House, voices from around the world are getting louder — and friendlier. Leaders like Mitsotakis understand that working with Trump isn’t just smart politics — it’s good for their people.

With the Delphi Economic Forum happening this week in Greece — where IMEEC, trade, and Trump’s global strategy are front and center — the timing couldn’t be better. And yes, Breitbart News will be right in the middle of it all.

Stay tuned for more updates from the ground.
