The left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is once again targeting mainstream conservatives — this time labeling Turning Point USA (TPUSA) and PragerU as part of an “anti-government extremist” category, placing them on the same map as the Ku Klux Klan.
Yes, you read that right. The SPLC’s latest “hate map” update tries to paint America’s largest conservative youth organization and a mainstream conservative education nonprofit as somehow being in the same realm as hate groups. It’s a move that critics say is not only dishonest but downright dangerous.
TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk blasted the SPLC on social media, calling it a “cheap smear from a washed-up org that’s been fleecing scared grandmas for decades.” He added, “It’s 2025, and nobody with a functioning brain buys their garbage anymore.”
This isn’t the first time the SPLC has pulled a stunt like this. The group has a history of lumping in Christian and conservative groups with violent hate organizations simply because they disagree with their politics.
Back in 2012, the Family Research Council was labeled a “hate group” by the SPLC for its biblical stance on marriage. That label led a deranged gunman, who had browsed the SPLC’s “hate map,” to carry out a violent attack on the council’s D.C. office.
Despite the attack, the SPLC didn’t back down. Instead, it doubled down on its claims — and now it’s doing the same to TPUSA and PragerU.
PragerU CEO Marissa Streit told Breitbart News, “Why does the SPLC feel the need to publicly identify the locations of organizations it disagrees with? What is the real purpose behind this so-called ‘Hate Map’?”
She warned that the SPLC’s reckless tactics not only incite division but also put real people in harm’s way.
Kirk echoed that sentiment, accusing the SPLC of wanting TPUSA “in the crosshairs.” He said their goal is to “scare financial institutions into debanking us, pressure schools to cancel us, and demonize us so some unhinged lunatic feels justified targeting us.”
In its bizarre report on TPUSA, the SPLC claims the group’s main strategy is to “sow and exploit fear” about attacks on “white Christian supremacy.” It accuses TPUSA of warning its audience that their faith, families, and freedoms are under assault — as if that’s not actually happening in America today.
Turning Point’s spokesperson Andrew Kolvet fired back, saying the SPLC has become a “grift” that labels anyone who supports Trump, traditional values, or Christian teaching as “extreme.”
“At this point, if you’re a real conservative, adhere to real Christian teachings, or simply support President Trump, you end up on the SPLC’s ridiculous Hate Map,” Kolvet said.
This is part of a growing pattern from the SPLC. Just last year, the group labeled Moms for Liberty, Gays Against Groomers, and Alliance Defending Freedom as “hate groups” — all for standing up for parental rights, religious freedom, and protecting kids from radical gender ideology.
Even Breitbart News has been a target of SPLC smears, simply for reporting the truth.
In reality, what the SPLC is doing is using its once-respected name to try and silence conservatives by smearing them as hateful or dangerous — all while cozying up to elite donors and pushing far-left ideology.
The SPLC doesn’t disclose its donors, but public records reveal the group is heavily bankrolled by wealthy left-wing foundations. According to past investigations, millions have flowed from organizations like the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Cisco Systems Foundation, and the Picower Foundation.
In fact, Amazon even funneled money to the SPLC through its old AmazonSmile program — showing just how deep the SPLC’s connections run in the liberal establishment.
And while the SPLC cries “poverty” in its name, it sits atop a mountain of cash. Founder Morris Dees — who has faced numerous controversies — built a fundraising empire by peddling fear, raising millions for Democrat campaigns, and adding “extremists” to his watchlists.
The SPLC used to be a civil rights group. Now it’s just a political weapon — one that has lost all credibility.
Its “hate map” is not about justice or safety. It’s about silencing conservative voices, smearing Christians, and targeting anyone who stands in the way of their far-left agenda.
But as more Americans wake up to this scam, groups like TPUSA and PragerU are only growing stronger — because truth still matters, and the American people won’t be bullied into silence.
As Charlie Kirk put it, “Maybe someone should take a hard look at where all that ‘nonprofit’ money’s really going.”
