A quiet afternoon in Boulder, Colorado, turned into chaos over the weekend when a peaceful pro-Israel walk was violently interrupted by what authorities are now calling a possible terror attack.
The incident took place at the popular Pearl Street Mall—an area known for its shops and pedestrian-friendly walkways—around 13th and Pearl Streets. The Boulder Police Department confirmed the attack in a post on X (formerly Twitter), writing:
“We are responding to a report of an attack at 13th and Pearl streets with reports of several victims. PLEASE AVOID THE AREA! We will put out more information soon.”
Eyewitnesses told CBS Colorado that the suspect threw Molotov cocktails—homemade firebombs—at a group of people taking part in a pro-Israel solidarity walk. The event was organized by the group Run For Their Lives, which describes itself as a peaceful movement to support Israeli hostages still being held by Hamas in Gaza.
“This is not a protest; it is a peaceful walk to show solidarity with the hostages and their families, and a plea for their release,” the organization explained.
Participants had gathered around 1 p.m. at Pearl and 8th Street and planned to walk the length of Pearl Street Mall, pausing for a brief video at the courthouse before returning. That peaceful mission was shattered when chaos erupted.
One man who was on Pearl Street during the attack gave a harrowing account of what happened. He told KDVR News:
“I saw a fire and then saw a cloud of smoke… When we got to the scene, there was a woman burning on the ground and two other people impacted by burns on their legs.”
He described the chaos as unfolding during “some kind of religious protest,” though the walk was explicitly promoted as a non-political, peaceful demonstration.
As the public demanded answers, FBI Director Kash Patel posted an update on X confirming the agency is treating the incident as a targeted terror attack:
“We are aware of and fully investigating a targeted terror attack in Boulder, Colorado. Our agent and local law enforcement are on the scene already, and we will share updates as more information becomes available.”
This response raises major concerns about domestic security and the growing trend of violence against Jewish and pro-Israel communities here in the United States—especially when they are simply walking to show support for victims of Hamas terrorism.
This latest incident is not just a crime; it’s another signal of how far public safety has deteriorated in places once considered safe and peaceful.
