500% Surge in Attacks on ICE Agents—Democrats Under Fire for Anti-Enforcement Rhetoric

While the Biden administration’s open border policies continue to flood our country with illegal migrants, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are now under siege, facing a staggering 500% increase in assaults during enforcement operations, according to newly released Department of Homeland Security (DHS) data obtained by Breitbart News.

These brave men and women, tasked with protecting our communities, are being targeted at an alarming rate—and Democrat leaders are making it worse with reckless rhetoric and anti-law enforcement policies.

“Just this week, an ICE officer was dragged 50 yards by a car while arresting an illegal alien sex offender,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “Every day the men and women of ICE put their lives on the line to protect and defend the lives of American citizens.”

One of the most recent and disturbing examples occurred in Bloomington, Minnesota, where an illegal alien and convicted child sex offender, Roberto Carlos Munoz, attempted to escape ICE custody. In the process, he dragged an ICE agent 50 yards with his vehicle, nearly killing the officer.

This isn’t a rare occurrence anymore—it’s becoming common.

McLaughlin stressed the growing danger ICE agents are facing while carrying out arrests, calling it a direct result of Democrat leaders who vilify law enforcement.

Instead of backing our enforcement officers, Democrat politicians are doubling down on dangerous rhetoric, treating ICE agents like criminals and emboldening radical anti-ICE activists. Here are some recent low points:

• Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY): Threatened ICE agents directly, saying,

“Every single ICE agent… will of course be identified, no matter what it takes, no matter how long it takes.”

• Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz: Publicly compared ICE agents to Nazi Gestapo, equating lawful enforcement of immigration law with historical atrocities.
• Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass: Joined in by glorifying anti-ICE protests and offering political cover to those who interfere with lawful arrests.

“Make no mistake,” said McLaughlin, “Democrat politicians like Hakeem Jeffries, Mayor Wu of Boston, Governor Tim Walz, and Mayor Bass of Los Angeles are contributing to the surge in assaults of our ICE officers through their repeated vilification and demonization of ICE.”

What’s worse? Some Democrat politicians are no longer just talking—they’re interfering directly in federal enforcement operations.

• Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) was just indicted by a federal grand jury for forcibly obstructing ICE agents as they attempted to arrest an illegal alien at a New Jersey detention facility.
• Brad Lander, NYC Comptroller and Democrat candidate for mayor, may be facing charges himself. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York has not ruled out filing charges after Lander allegedly assaulted an ICE officer during an arrest operation in the city.

This is where the radical open-borders agenda leads: elected officials physically interfering with immigration law enforcement to protect illegal aliens—including violent criminals—from deportation.

The consequences of Democrat leadership’s anti-enforcement, sanctuary-first policies are clear: emboldened criminals, a weaker border, and now, direct attacks on federal officers.

As Breitbart News has consistently reported, President Trump and his allies are standing strong behind our ICE agents and pushing back against this dangerous trend. Former Trump Acting ICE Director Tom Homan called out the Biden administration earlier this year, saying they’ve “intentionally created chaos at the border” and released illegal aliens into the country on purpose.

“They did it on purpose, because if you put them in ICE detention, they get a hearing in 35 days and 9 out of 10 are ordered removed,” Homan explained. “But you release them? Their hearings could take years—and by then, Democrats hope they’ll be granted amnesty.”

The ICE agents under attack aren’t nameless bureaucrats—they are parents, veterans, patriots, working every day to make our country safer. When they’re dragged by cars, cursed at by politicians, or assaulted in the streets, it sends a message to every law-abiding American: the far-left values criminals over citizens.

Enough is enough.

It’s time to demand an end to the radical sanctuary policies, restore support for our law enforcement heroes, and bring accountability to those who attack or obstruct ICE agents—even when they hold elected office.
