In a display of political gaslighting that’s becoming all too common, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) went on the offensive this week, falsely blaming Trump supporters for all political violence in America—even the assassination attempts against President Trump himself.
During an appearance on the Hasan Minhaj podcast, Crockett confidently claimed, “Violence doesn’t come from Democrats, just to be clear. Obviously, anyone can be a criminal. But it is MAGA. It is the specifically MAGA faction. I don’t think traditional Republicans are getting engaged in all of this.”
That statement ignores not only reality but also basic facts. The shooter behind the attempted assassination of President Trump in Pennsylvania, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, had no publicly established political motive—let alone a documented link to MAGA. Meanwhile, the second alleged would-be assassin, Ryan Wesley Routh, had supported far-left Sen. Bernie Sanders in the 2020 Democratic primary.
Crockett’s partisan accusations conveniently skip over the mounting record of left-wing political violence—violence often driven by ideologies embraced by many on her side of the aisle. From Black Lives Matter riots that caused billions in property damage to assaults on law enforcement and ICE agents, there’s no shortage of examples. Yet, those incidents rarely receive the same level of condemnation—if any at all.
Just this week, federal authorities charged 10 individuals in Texas with attempted murder after they launched an organized assault on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility in Alvarado. According to the Department of Justice, the attackers—dressed in black military-style gear—used fireworks and AR-style rifles during a premeditated assault that left officers wounded and could have ended in mass casualties.
The criminal complaint details how one police officer was shot in the neck, while others were pinned down by rapid gunfire. The suspects had radios, body armor, and fliers reading “FIGHT ICE TERROR WITH CLASS WAR!” and “FREE ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS.”
Let that sink in: far-left extremists, heavily armed and wearing tactical gear, tried to kill law enforcement officers on U.S. soil. And yet Crockett would have Americans believe that the true danger lies solely with Trump voters showing up at campaign rallies waving American flags.
This episode isn’t just about one lawmaker’s reckless rhetoric—it’s part of a broader trend of partisan distortion. Painting mainstream conservatives as threats while ignoring or downplaying leftist violence is not only dishonest, it’s dangerous. It blinds the public to real risks and undermines public trust in elected officials who are supposed to represent all Americans.
If Rep. Crockett is serious about protecting the public, she might start by condemning violent radicals on her own side instead of falsely accusing the very Americans who simply want secure borders, safe communities, and a government that works for the people—not against them.
The facts speak louder than political spin, and Americans know exactly who’s fueling the fire.
