On Thursday’s episode of Fox News’ Will Cain Show, acting ICE Director Todd Lyons dropped a sharp message: under the current administration, any crime committed by an illegal immigrant is grounds for immediate action.
Speaking to guest host Lawrence Jones, Lyons said the days of overlooking “minor” offenses like shoplifting or graffiti are over.
“Any crime now is fully on the table,” he said. “We’re focused on getting these criminal illegal aliens before they can escalate their crime spree.”
This is a marked shift from the previous approach. Lyons criticized the last administration’s policies, saying they ignored misdemeanors even when individuals had serious criminal histories — not only in the U.S., but in their home countries as well.
Jones pointed out a dramatic change in how ICE detainers are being honored in cities like New York:
“Under Trump, New York honored a little over 6,000 ICE detainers. Under Biden’s four years, they’ve honored over 9,000. That’s a 400% increase.”
What’s changed?
Lyons explained that ICE now casts a wider net. Instead of limiting detainers to serious felonies, ICE is placing detainers on anyone in the country illegally who commits any additional crime, no matter how “small.” The goal? Prevent crimes from escalating.
“Shoplifting might be one thing,” Lyons said, “but it leads to more and more crime, and we just can’t do that.”
The 48-hour detainer request—essentially asking local authorities to hold individuals in custody so ICE can pick them up—is becoming more common. And unlike before, cities are starting to cooperate again.
For critics of weak immigration enforcement, this pivot is long overdue. For others, it’s a sign that law and order is starting to regain priority in American cities.
Whatever side you’re on, one thing is clear: ICE is back on offense, and the new rules mean no crime goes unnoticed.

Think Myorkas should be deported or jailed for lying to Congress, failing in his oath of office, breaking immigration laws, allowing Americans to be subject to crimes up to and including murder. This man is not an American in though word or deed.
