It’s no secret that many Democrat lawmakers in Congress push far-left policies. But increasingly, it’s at the state level where some of the most radical behavior is happening — and it’s flying under the radar.
Take a recent example out of Arizona, where Democrat State Senator Analise Ortiz has come under fire for tipping off illegal immigrants about ICE enforcement actions. That’s not an exaggeration — it’s a direct quote from federal officials who are now investigating whether her actions amount to obstruction of justice.
Here’s what happened: Ortiz took to Instagram to share details of active immigration sweeps happening in her community. A DHS spokeswoman, Tricia McLaughlin, did not mince words about the implications:
“Arizona state Senator Analise Ortiz is siding with vicious cartels, human traffickers, and violent criminals over American citizens.”
When asked directly by Fox News Digital whether Ortiz could face criminal charges, McLaughlin replied:
“This certainly looks like obstruction of justice.”
The reality is plain: the men and women of ICE risk their lives daily to arrest violent, criminal illegal aliens. They don’t just enforce the law — they protect the public. But now, thanks to actions like Ortiz’s, they’re being treated as the enemy.
McLaughlin also noted:
“Make no mistake, sanctuary politicians like Arizona Senator Analise Ortiz are contributing to the surge in assaults of our ICE officers through their repeated vilification and demonization of ICE.”
And she’s right. These aren’t harmless political gestures. They undermine law enforcement, embolden criminals, and put agents’ lives at risk.
Arizona Republican lawmakers are taking action. State Senator Jake Hoffman is preparing to file a formal ethics complaint, calling for Ortiz to be expelled from the legislature. State Representative Rachel Keshel has joined that call.
In addition, Ortiz has been referred to the U.S. Attorney for investigation.
But predictably, the Democrat political machine is closing ranks.
Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ) publicly endorsed Ortiz’s actions. Arizona’s Democrat Attorney General Kris Mayes is now trying to spin this as a “free speech” issue. But as Rep. John Gillette (R) pointed out, outing federal law enforcement officers during active operations has nothing to do with free speech — it’s recklessness, plain and simple.
Let’s be clear: this isn’t just about ideology. It’s about national security, the rule of law, and the safety of American communities. If a member of ICE were harmed because their location was exposed online by a state official, would Mayes still be singing the same tune?
Unfortunately, this isn’t isolated.
Just days earlier, Rhode Island State Rep. Enrique Sanchez (D) posted a vile message on Twitter/X, threatening ICE agents directly:
“It will be soon the day that I confront these Nazi ICE thugs in person for terrorizing our communities. It will be a day of reckoning and no going back.”
Let that sink in. A sitting state lawmaker compared ICE agents — federal officers upholding immigration law — to Nazis and called for a “day of reckoning.”
This is the state of today’s Democrat Party: openly hostile to immigration enforcement, cozy with sanctuary policies, and more eager to defend those in the country illegally than the officers sworn to protect it.
Meanwhile, when Republicans in Texas proposed a redistricting map that could give their party a few more U.S. House seats, dozens of Democrat lawmakers fled the state, whining about the death of democracy — only to seek shelter in Illinois and New York, two of the most gerrymandered blue states in the country.
The irony writes itself.
What we’re seeing is not principled disagreement. It’s raw partisanship, wrapped in buzzwords like “democracy” and “free speech,” all while ignoring the real-world consequences.
If this is what Democrat “leadership” looks like at the state level, it’s no wonder our border is in chaos, our laws are ignored, and our law enforcement officers are under siege.
Enough is enough.
