The White House fired back at rocker Jack White this week after the former White Stripes frontman ripped into President Donald Trump’s newly redecorated Oval Office.
White, best known for “Seven Nation Army,” called Trump’s gold-accented makeover of the iconic room “gaudy” and compared it to a “professional wrestler’s dressing room.” He even joked that all that’s missing is a UFC fight on the front lawn—something Trump has actually floated for America’s 250th birthday celebration.
The response from the White House was sharp. Communications director Steven Cheung labeled White a “washed-up has-been” who’s disrespecting “the splendor and significance of the Oval Office.”
The musician doubled down in his post, mocking Trump’s taste and suggesting that “a gold-plated Trump Bible” would fit right in with the new décor. He contrasted Trump’s “vulgar” style with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whom he praised as “a REAL leader” during their Oval Office meeting.
This isn’t the first time White and Trump have clashed. Back in 2024, The White Stripes sued Trump’s campaign for using “Seven Nation Army” without permission at rallies. White also publicly called out celebrities like Joe Rogan and Mark Wahlberg for “normalizing” Trump when they were spotted with him at a UFC fight.
Whether you see the gold décor as bold or tacky, one thing’s clear: Jack White isn’t backing down from his feud with Trump anytime soon.
