Once again, the liberal media threw everything they had at President Donald Trump, hoping to shake public confidence in his leadership. And once again, they failed.
A new CBS News poll released Sunday morning shows that despite the media uproar over leaked Signal messages involving National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, Trump’s approval rating remains strong at 50 percent. The poll surveyed over 2,600 Americans on March 27 and 28, confirming that everyday Americans see through the media’s smear tactics.
Last week, the Atlantic reported that National Security Adviser Mike Waltz had mistakenly added their editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, to an encrypted Signal group chat discussing U.S. strategy against the Iranian-backed Houthis. The story was quickly seized upon by leftist media outlets as an opportunity to criticize Trump’s national security team.
Despite the media’s breathless coverage, the CBS poll found that while many Americans saw the leak as “serious,” it did not hurt Trump’s approval rating. This shows that Americans trust the administration to handle national security matters, even in the face of inevitable human errors.
While Trump remains popular, the economy remains a top concern. The poll revealed that 31 percent of Americans believe the administration is taking the “right amount” of action to lower consumer prices, but 64 percent feel that it needs to do more.
On tariffs, 38 percent of respondents think Trump has enacted the “right amount,” while 55 percent believe he’s gone too far. However, only 5 percent of Americans say they want more tariffs—an interesting data point as Trump doubles down on his America First trade policies.
But one thing is clear: Biden is still being blamed for inflation. While leftist economists and media pundits continue to push the narrative that inflation is Trump’s fault, 38 percent of Americans say Biden is “more responsible” for the current economic mess, compared to 34 percent who blame Trump. Another 19 percent believe both are equally responsible, while 9 percent say “neither.”
Perhaps the most striking result in the poll is Trump’s rising approval on immigration policy. A strong 53 percent approve of his overall handling of the issue, with 58 percent backing his plan to deport illegal migrants. This is a clear signal that Americans are fed up with the chaos at the border and want a leader who will take decisive action.
Trump’s aggressive cuts to bloated federal agencies, including the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), have Americans evenly divided. The CBS poll found 50 percent approve of the administration’s efforts to shrink government bureaucracy, while the other half remain skeptical. This is likely due to misinformation spread by Democrats, who claim that these cuts will harm essential services rather than simply eliminate waste.
No matter how many media attacks are launched, Trump’s popularity remains strong. The American people aren’t falling for the usual anti-Trump hysteria, and the numbers prove it. With high marks on immigration and a resilient economy, his administration is positioned well as he continues his fight to restore American greatness.
As we head into the next phase of this political battle, one thing is clear: the media’s desperate attempts to bring down Trump aren’t working. The American people see the truth, and they’re standing with the President.
