Dem Rep. Ansari: I’ll Shut Down Gov’t if We Don’t ‘Take Away Funding From’ ‘Rogue’ ICE

During CNN International’s The Brief, Rep. Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ) openly called Immigration and Customs Enforcement “a rogue agency” and threatened to oppose the federal budget unless ICE funding is gutted. “Unless they’re going to take away funding from ICE, which they quadrupled in the last budget, then I do not intend to vote for this budget,” Ansari declared.

She went further, claiming ICE agents are “completely in lockstep with Donald Trump and Stephen Miller’s extremely racist mass deportation policy” and said she was “gutted” by the Supreme Court’s recent decision upholding ICE enforcement authority. Ansari warned the ruling will embolden ICE to act in cities like Los Angeles and voiced concern about enforcement in her own Phoenix district, which she described as “a district where more than 64 languages are spoken, a diverse community.”

Pressed by host Jim Sciutto on whether Democrats should force a government shutdown over the issue, Ansari doubled down. She insisted, “unless they are going to roll back some of the egregious policies that they passed a couple of weeks ago, unless they’re going to make sure that Medicaid isn’t cut, unless they’re going to take away funding from ICE…then I do not intend to vote for this budget.”

Ansari also wrongly claimed Republicans “have control of all three branches” of government, ignoring the fact that Democrats still hold a Senate majority.

Her comments reveal the Left’s growing hostility toward basic border enforcement and national security. Instead of working to secure the country, Democrats like Ansari are threatening to shut down the government if ICE isn’t defunded.

At a time when border encounters remain at historic highs, this kind of rhetoric signals to both cartels and illegal migrants that the Democratic Party’s priority is dismantling enforcement—not protecting American communities.
