Dem Rep. Himes: Someone Will Die Because Trump Accused Obama of Treason

This week, Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) stood inside the Capitol and gave MSNBC a dire prediction: that someone will die—yes, die—because Donald Trump called Barack Obama guilty of treason.

Let’s rewind. In the Oval Office, President Trump didn’t mince words:

“If you look at those papers, they have him stone-cold, and it was President Obama… the leader of the gang was President Obama, Barack Hussein Obama. Have you heard of him?… He’s guilty, it’s not a question. I like to say let’s give it time, it’s there, he’s guilty. This was treason.”

Like it or not, that’s Trump being Trump—unfiltered and fired up. But what came next reveals the playbook that’s been worn thin since 2016.

On MSNBC’s Deadline, Himes responded:

“What troubles me most… is that I’m standing in a spot that on January 6, 2021, was overrun by a violent mob… and it was all driven by a lie propagated by Donald Trump. And now we’re seeing that playbook again… Who is going to die?”

Himes doubled down when host Nicolle Wallace pushed him further:

“When you use language like treason… some tiny percentage of the population is just crazy enough to decide that they need to do something about it… It’s what happened where I am standing right now on January 6th.”

Translation? Democrats are once again using January 6th as their rhetorical security blanket—equating strong political speech with incitement to violence.

Let’s be clear: Words matter. But so does the truth. And calling out the weaponization of power—especially what many believe was an abuse of the intelligence community during the Russia collusion saga—is not only fair game, it’s a duty.

Instead, Himes and his media allies are spinning the narrative to deflect attention from something far more uncomfortable for them: the widening fallout from the Epstein revelations. Trump, by shining a spotlight back on the Obama-era players, disrupts their carefully managed media script. So now we’re told that merely using the word treason is somehow a call to arms.

This isn’t about protecting democracy. It’s about shielding sacred cows and silencing scrutiny—especially when it threatens the legacy of the left’s most untouchable figures.

And here’s the kicker: when the Left levels these kinds of accusations, they’re deemed “brave defenders of truth.” But when Trump names names, it’s suddenly dangerous speech?
