Democrats are working overtime to restart a $20 billion pipeline of government healthcare aid each year—funding that would go not to American citizens, but to illegal migrants.
The push comes as President Donald Trump’s economic pressure campaign is showing results. Roughly 1.6 million migrants have already chosen to self-deport, and that number is expected to rise as the administration enforces workplace laws, cracks down on illegal employment, and fines those who continue breaking the rules. In short: common-sense enforcement is working.
CBS News recently profiled Gerardo, an illegal migrant leaving Colorado with his family after years of declining wages and mounting expenses. “There’s no work … We have just made the decision to leave on our own terms,” he said, noting that his income had been cut in half since arriving. His daughter, just nine years old, said she was glad to return to Mexico to be closer to family. These stories highlight the very real impact of strict enforcement: jobs are freed up for Americans, wages strengthen, and migrants return home with new skills to benefit their own countries.
Yet Democrats are determined to undo this progress. “Democrats are demanding health care for everybody,” admitted Rep. Maxine Waters. Rep. Ro Khanna went further, dismissing the costs of healthcare for illegals as “such a small portion.” But that “small portion” amounts to billions of taxpayer dollars that could otherwise strengthen Medicare, improve veterans’ care, or reduce the deficit.
The GOP successfully blocked hidden healthcare provisions in Trump’s July 4 spending bill. But Democrats have responded by threatening government shutdowns to restore the money flow. They use every bureaucratic trick available—temporary protected status, “humanitarian parole,” and special waivers—to funnel federal funds to illegal migrants despite laws that explicitly bar them from Medicaid. Under Biden, even California was granted a special waiver to reimburse the state for its spending on migrant healthcare.
Activist groups are openly lobbying for more. “There is no California without Latinx Californians, and recent state and federal cuts put their health and well-being at serious risk,” the California Immigrant Policy Center declared earlier this month. But their definition of “Californians” includes millions who broke the law to enter the country.
Republicans aren’t buying it. “Since the July bill-signing, 2.3 million ineligible enrollees have been kicked off of Medicaid … [and if the Democrats get their way,] American taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars would be paying for benefits for illegal aliens again,” Speaker Mike Johnson warned.
Vice President JD Vance cut straight to the point: “Very often, [a citizen] in the emergency room waiting is an illegal alien, very often it’s a person who can’t speak English. Why do those people get health care benefits at hospitals paid for by American citizens?”
At its core, this fight isn’t just about healthcare—it’s about whether Washington prioritizes the rights and needs of its own citizens, or whether it continues to reward lawbreaking at the expense of taxpayers. With Democrats openly siding with illegal migrants, the contrast couldn’t be clearer.
The Democrats are to blame for tearing down the wall and letting them all in! Let them pay for their minions, not us! The only reason there are sanctuary cities is because they’re too lazy to work for their money. They get paid by the amount of people so they round them up and herd them in! Too lazy to do their job! You can tell by the condition of their city and violence.
