A troubling act of violence against U.S. immigration enforcement didn’t make front-page headlines this weekend — but it should have.
On Saturday, an unknown suspect launched an arson attack on the ICE field office in Yakima, Washington, shattering windows and lighting a fire behind the building. Photos show a charred back lawn and broken glass, proof that the facility — clearly marked as a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) location — was deliberately targeted.
No one was injured, but that doesn’t lessen the severity of what took place. This wasn’t a protest. It was a criminal act against a federal law enforcement agency tasked with protecting American communities from illegal alien crime.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin confirmed the incident to the New York Post, saying the arsonist threw a rock through a window before igniting the blaze. The case is now under investigation by local authorities.
Meanwhile, data from KREM2 confirms that ICE arrests in Washington are on the rise, with at least 817 people arrested in 2025 — a spike of 275 in June alone.
Why the uptick? It’s simple: Washington state continues to serve as a sanctuary for illegal immigrants, often blocking ICE from doing its job.
Back in April, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) demanded answers from Washington Attorney General Nick Brown (D) about the state’s dangerous policies, citing the death of at least one American citizen as a direct result of local authorities refusing to cooperate with ICE.
Jordan didn’t mince words:
“Washington’s illegal immigration policies target local law enforcement officials for complying with federal law.”
“At least one murder may have been prevented if local law enforcement had chosen to cooperate with ICE,” he wrote.
This latest act of violence is part of a broader pattern — one driven by increasingly hostile rhetoric toward immigration enforcement, often encouraged by Democrat leaders in sanctuary cities and states.
As McLaughlin explained, attacks on ICE agents have exploded by 830% since the Trump administration ramped up enforcement — a chilling statistic. She laid blame directly where it belongs:
“Make no mistake, Democrat politicians like Hakeem Jeffries, Mayor Michelle Wu of Boston, Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota, and Mayor Karen Bass of Los Angeles are contributing to the surge in assaults of our ICE officers through their repeated vilification and demonization of ICE.”
She continued:
“From comparisons to the modern-day Nazi Gestapo to glorifying rioters, the violent rhetoric of these sanctuary politicians is beyond the pale.”
Let that sink in.
Our federal agents are being called Nazis — not by anonymous trolls online, but by elected officials who are actively shielding criminal illegal aliens from accountability. And now, ICE field offices are literally under attack.
There’s a direct line between rhetoric and reality. When politicians demonize law enforcement, someone eventually acts on that message. And while no one was hurt this time, it’s only a matter of time before this kind of violence escalates.
Thankfully, some leaders are still standing up for the rule of law. McLaughlin made clear where DHS Secretary Kristi Noem stands:
“Anyone who seeks to harm law enforcement officers will be found and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
We can only hope those words are matched with decisive action — because the men and women of ICE deserve protection and respect, not political scapegoating and physical attacks.
America is a nation of laws — but only if we choose to uphold them.
You’re right, I didn’t see this! I’m aware of the escalation of attacks on law enforcement and you’re right about Democrats inciting the violence! I’m in MN just waiting for Walz and Ellison and Omar to get the boot! Our state is in great peril with a Communist, Marxist and Muslim running our state.
