Well, that’s exactly what happened to a Michigan resident on March 6th in the western Upper Peninsula. As he watched the two small cubs scurry across the road—one even taking shelter under his truck—he casually captured the moment on camera, unaware of how special it really was. They were cougar cubs—the first confirmed sighting of baby cougars in Michigan in over 100 years!
“This could be the first known cougar reproduction in modern times in the western Great Lakes states,” said Brian Roell, a biologist with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
