MSNBC’s Jen Psaki — once the public face of the Biden White House — is drawing heavy backlash after mocking Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha, in what critics are calling a “disgusting” and “vile” attack.
On the I’ve Had It podcast Tuesday, Psaki joked that Usha Vance might be afraid of her husband, implying she needed to be “rescued.” She also described Vance as “scarier” than President Donald Trump — a statement that’s as revealing about the Left’s mindset as it is outrageous.
“I think the little Manchurian candidate, JD Vance, wants to be president more than anything else,” Psaki said. “I always wonder what’s going on in the mind of his wife. Like, are you OK? Please blink four times. We’ll come over here. We’ll save you.”
She went on to say, “He’s scarier in certain ways… He’s young and ambitious and agile in the sense that he’s a chameleon who makes himself whatever he thinks the audience wants to hear from him.”
The podcast description even doubled down, reading: “Usha Vance, please blink twice if you need help.”
For many Americans, this was more than an offhand joke — it was another example of how quickly the Left dehumanizes conservatives it fears. Instead of debating ideas, Psaki and her media peers resort to personal smears, dragging a man’s marriage into partisan theater.
Conservatives and commentators across social media blasted the remarks. Fox News contributor Joe Concha called Psaki “not a good person. At all.” The Libs of TikTok account wrote on X, “Unhinged Jen Psaki is now smearing JD Vance, suggesting that his wife wants to leave her husband… @MSNBC should be ashamed to pay her salary.”
Townhall writer Amy Curtis condemned the attack as “absolutely vile,” adding, “Usha Vance is happily married… It’s also an insult to women who are in actual bad marriages.”
Even figures within Washington’s communications world weighed in. White House communications director Steven Cheung called Psaki “a dumba– who has no comprehension of the truth,” while conservative legal analyst Margot Cleveland noted, “The pivot to ‘JD Vance is worse than Hitler’ started earlier than I anticipated.”
Turning Point USA’s Jack Posobiec pointed out the irony of Psaki’s jab, noting that “Usha is accompanying JD right now in Israel securing the Gaza Peace Deal. Absolutely disgusting comments.”
For a political class that constantly preaches about “respect” and “decency,” Psaki’s behavior speaks volumes. The same media ecosystem that accuses conservatives of “toxic rhetoric” seems to have no limits when targeting anyone aligned with Trump.
The smear also highlights a deeper hypocrisy — the Left’s supposed advocacy for women often vanishes when those women are conservative, successful, or simply married to men they dislike. Usha Vance, a Yale-educated attorney and mother, represents the very independence progressives claim to celebrate — yet Psaki reduced her to a punchline.
It’s a familiar pattern: mock the faith, family, and values that conservatives hold dear, then dismiss the backlash as “right-wing outrage.” But voters are paying attention. At a time when Americans want leaders focused on real issues — border security, inflation, public safety — the Left’s obsession with personal insults is wearing thin.
Jen Psaki may think she’s scoring political points, but to millions of Americans, this latest episode is just another reminder of what’s gone wrong in Washington’s media culture: too much sneering, not enough substance.
They can make vile remarks, so can we. They can’t handle it.
