On Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s The Briefing, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) leveled one of the harshest accusations yet against the Trump administration, claiming it has been “on the side of sexual offenders and human traffickers.” His remarks came as he previewed what he described as an upcoming “explosive report” from the House Judiciary Committee.
Raskin praised accusers while setting the stage for his party’s narrative. “It’s so excellent that the victims have come to the fore and are acting in such a brave way to both articulate their own experiences but to talk about the systemic problem. On the judiciary committee side, we’re going to be releasing an explosive report early next week about how the Trump administration has been systematically dismantling the anti-human trafficking and anti-domestic violence programs and grants across the federal government, human trafficking programs at the Department of State, at the Department of Justice, at Health and Human Services, USAID, you name it.”
He went further, declaring: “We’ve collected all of that and we’re going to show people that this is an administration that is on the side of the human traffickers and the sex abusers. And if you look at Donald Trump’s pardons, and if you look at various actions taken by the Department of Justice they are overwhelmingly on the side of sexual offenders and human traffickers. So this is not like a kind of lonely, discrete one off episode we’re talking about. this is now becoming clear a whole system that the Trump administration is committed to.”
These are extraordinary charges, but also revealing in how the modern left often operates: through sweeping claims designed to paint political opponents as morally irredeemable. To accuse a sitting or former president of siding with human traffickers and sex offenders—without a detailed presentation of facts—underscores how political discourse has shifted into weaponized rhetoric. What used to be serious bipartisan issues, such as combating human trafficking, are now reduced to partisan talking points.
It is worth remembering that anti-trafficking efforts have long been one area of government that enjoyed cross-party support. Over the last two decades, administrations of both parties have expanded funding and global partnerships to confront what is widely recognized as modern-day slavery. By framing his accusation in the broadest and most damning terms, Raskin isn’t merely attacking Trump—he is signaling that even essential issues like protecting victims of trafficking are now subject to political theater.
For conservatives, the implications run deeper. The bigger government grows, the more programs become ripe for manipulation, expansion, or dismantling based on which party holds power. This kind of weaponization not only weakens public trust but also undermines the very people these programs are supposed to help. Instead of focusing on delivering effective solutions, Washington too often turns lifesaving initiatives into political leverage.
At its core, Raskin’s statement reflects a troubling pattern: when government is viewed as the only vehicle for solving every crisis, it becomes easier to use that same government to score political points. It’s not a call for protecting victims—it’s a call for expanding bureaucratic control while demonizing opponents. Americans who care about the real fight against trafficking should ask whether inflammatory rhetoric helps victims, or whether it only fuels division while the underlying problem persists.
Why is this not considered not against aiding abetting established Federal Laws and these jerks are not being prosecuted for violating lawful request since when does State BS our Trunp Federal laws? Where are the bias law breaker district judges who are responsible for this legal enforcement?
These elected people in office who call themselves Biden Democrats need to be held accountable for the attacks on the tax payers that cause waste fraud and abuse, now they make public statements like what Trumps is doing is against the Constitution but never say or explain what, another over used phrase is our Democracy is a risk ,here again they never explain their comments not define what exactly is a risk. All low IQ comments to attack the elected President, they have noting left to explain the wide open borders that has allowed so much hate crime death into the USA illegally. These lovers of crime should be voted out of office to never return.
Screw Raskin, he’s another sleaseball like Adam Schiff! I get sick and tired of the Democrats hurling false accusations and insults. He needs to look in a mirror at himself and party and you can see they are the ones supporting the criminals and freaks causing chaos in the USA!
You said it perfectly…weaponized rhetoric!!
When the accusers came forward after all these years they said Trump was not involved but Ratskin had to turn it on Trump just the same. We’ve got an alliance between many countries to stop child trafficking! This has been President Trumps goal ever since his first term. Nobody has done more to rescue the children and punishment for the criminals. See,the problem is that the democrats don’t know what criminals are! People can loot, pillage and burn cities but that’s mostly peaceful? They’re here illegally but are family members who do the jobs that we don’t want to do? Only Trump is a criminal?
