At a recent speaking event in Connecticut, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) made headlines — and not for the right reasons. Speaking to an audience at Grace Baptist Church, the Democrat congresswoman appeared to champion illegal immigration, while throwing out what many are calling a racist and deeply offensive comment aimed at Black Americans.
And yes, the crowd had to pay to hear it.
During her speech, Crockett boasted that she travels the country to “educate people about what immigrants do for this country.” But it was the way she framed her message that stunned many.
“Ain’t none of y’all trying to go and farm right now… we done picking cotton. We are. You can’t pay us enough to find a plantation,” Crockett declared.
You read that right. A sitting member of Congress not only implied that Black Americans are above doing agricultural work, but seemingly justified the need for illegal immigrants by suggesting Americans won’t do those jobs anymore — an argument often used to defend cheap labor and open borders.
In a move that raised even more eyebrows, it was revealed that attendees had to pay $75 to hear Crockett’s remarks — with kids aged 4-17 getting a “discount” at $40 per ticket.
So much for accessibility.
The blowback was swift and fierce across social media, with everyday Americans and conservative leaders alike calling out Crockett’s comments as offensive, elitist, and outright nonsensical.
“So she’s advocating for illegal immigrants for slave labor?” one X user wrote.
“The Democrats WANT a slave class,” another added bluntly.
Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) chimed in, struggling to make sense of her logic:
“I’m really trying to grasp her logic… and yet…”
Even women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines weighed in, saying plainly:
“Yeah, so I think this is called ‘racism.’”
One particularly biting comment noted:
“She’s so dumb and racist, she doesn’t know machines pick cotton. Only people who vote for her are dumb racist Democrats.”
Another user suggested a commonsense solution that many Americans might agree with:
“We need a minimum IQ requirement to serve in Congress.”
Crockett’s comment seems to expose the Democratic Party’s twisted view on immigration — where cheap, often illegal labor is quietly encouraged to fill jobs that American citizens supposedly “don’t want,” all while undermining the dignity of those same Americans.
And let’s be clear: America is not a country built on the backs of illegal labor. It’s built on legal immigration, lawful opportunity, and hard work. But Democrats like Crockett seem all too comfortable suggesting that Americans — particularly minorities — are too good for certain jobs, and that we should rely on illegal workers instead.
That’s not just wrong — it’s insulting.
The real tragedy in all of this? It shows how far removed many in Washington have become from the values of everyday Americans. Instead of securing the border, supporting legal immigration, and putting American workers first, Democrats like Jasmine Crockett are busy pandering with race-baiting rhetoric and excuses for open borders.
It’s time we hold the line, call out the nonsense, and demand better leadership — the kind that values every American, regardless of what kind of work they do.
Because no one is “done” with hard work in this country. We’re just getting started.
