President Donald Trump responded to Israel’s airstrike against Hamas leaders hiding in Doha, Qatar, making it clear the decision was not his. In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump explained: “This morning, the Trump Administration was notified by the United States Military that Israel was attacking Hamas which, very unfortunately, was located in a section of Doha, the Capital of Qatar. This was a decision made by Prime Minister Netanyahu, it was not a decision made by me.”
Trump acknowledged the reality many Americans already see: Hamas leaders live in luxury far from the misery they create, and eliminating them is a “worthy goal.” Still, he emphasized Qatar’s strategic role as a U.S. ally that has taken risks in trying to broker peace. “Unilaterally bombing inside Qatar, a Sovereign Nation and close Ally of the United States, that is working very hard and bravely taking risks with us to broker Peace, does not advance Israel or America’s goals,” Trump wrote.

He added that once informed of the pending strike, he immediately directed Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to notify Qatari officials. “However, unfortunately, too late to stop the attack,” Trump noted. “I view Qatar as a strong Ally and friend of the U.S., and feel very badly about the location of the attack. I want ALL of the Hostages, and bodies of the dead, released, and this War to END, NOW!”
After the airstrike, Trump spoke with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu directly. “He wants to make Peace,” Trump relayed. Trump also called the Emir and Prime Minister of Qatar to thank them for their support and assured them that “such a thing will not happen again on their soil.” Despite condemning the timing and location of the strike, Trump struck an optimistic note: “I believe this unfortunate incident could serve as an opportunity for PEACE.”
Reports out of Doha confirmed the strike hit “residential buildings housing several members of the Political Bureau of Hamas.” Qatar’s Foreign Ministry condemned the operation as a “criminal assault” and “a blatant violation of all international laws and norms.” Yet it is no secret that Hamas leaders have long enjoyed safe haven in Doha, living in five-star hotels and palatial villas while ordinary Gazans suffer under their corrupt rule.
For Israel, the responsibility was clear. Netanyahu stated plainly: “Today’s action against the top terrorist chieftains of Hamas was a wholly independent Israeli operation. Israel initiated it, Israel conducted it, and Israel takes full responsibility.”
The contrast in leadership could not be sharper. On one hand, Israel is determined to keep its word and hunt down those who orchestrated the October 7 massacre. On the other, Trump is positioning America as the indispensable broker for a just peace—demanding hostages be freed, terrorists disarmed, and the war brought to a swift conclusion.

Hamas is getting a taste of “what goes around, comes around!” I want to see the hostages released but now? They’re probably going to use them as shields and hide in their midst.
