President Donald Trump didn’t mince words this week as he fired back at left-wing media personality Charlamagne Tha God, who suggested that the ongoing Jeffrey Epstein controversy could trigger a Republican “coup” to take down the MAGA movement.
Charlamagne, speaking in an interview with Lara Trump, claimed that the Epstein issue could allow establishment-aligned conservatives to “take the Republican Party back.” In his words: “I think traditional conservatives are going to take the Republican Party back” thanks to mounting criticism of Trump over the pace of releasing Epstein-related files.
“I think there’s a political coup going on right now in the Republican Party that people aren’t paying attention to,” Charlamagne continued. “I think this Epstein thing is going to be a way for traditional conservatives to take their party back, I really do.”
He argued that MAGA voters are fixated on the Epstein files and implied that the establishment believes they can finally reclaim control without alienating Trump’s base. “They know this is the issue that has gotten the base riled up… and for the first time, they know they can probably take their party back and not piss off the MAGA base.”
But polling tells a different story.
Despite efforts by corporate media and left-leaning influencers to stoke divisions on this issue, a recent CBS News/YouGov poll shows that only 11% of Republican voters said the Epstein matter affected their view of Trump “a lot.” So far, the issue hasn’t made a dent in Trump’s strong grassroots support—a base that sees through the political games and remains focused on the broader fight to restore American leadership, secure borders, and hold the D.C. elite accountable.
Trump, never one to stay silent in the face of smear attempts, responded with characteristic bluntness on Truth Social. He called Charlamagne a “racist sleazebag,” adding that the podcaster is a “Low IQ individual” who “knows nothing about me or what I have done – like just ending 5 Wars, including a 31 year bloodbath between Republic of the Congo and Rwanda.”
In a sharply worded contrast, Trump continued: “STUPID and CORRUPT JOE BIDEN set the record for doing the Worst Job as President, EVER.”
Trump concluded with a swipe at Charlamagne’s loyalties: “But this dope, Charlamagne, would vote for Sleepy Joe or Kamala? Remember, one year ago our Country was DEAD, now it’s the ‘HOTTEST’ Country anywhere in the World. MAGA!!!”

As 2024 draws closer, it’s clear the effort to manufacture a rift within the GOP is in full swing. But facts on the ground tell a different story: Trump’s support remains strong, especially among everyday Americans who reject the ruling class narrative and are laser-focused on fixing a country that’s been mismanaged and hollowed out by the very establishment now looking to claw back control.
For those hoping to divide and conquer the conservative movement, the Epstein file won’t be the silver bullet. The MAGA coalition is watching, and they’re not easily fooled.
