In a disturbing example of local officials putting politics above law and order, two Los Angeles public schools recently denied entry to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officers, raising serious questions about the state’s continued defiance of federal immigration enforcement.
According to the Los Angeles Times, two DHS agents — specifically from the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) unit, not Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) — showed up at Lillian Street Elementary School and Russell Elementary School, both located in the Florence-Graham neighborhood of South L.A., earlier this week.
School officials said the agents identified themselves as “representatives of a federal agency”, but were promptly denied access.
“After following District protocols, school administrators denied entry to the individuals, and they left,” read the statement from school officials.
No further details were provided by the district about why DHS agents were there or what their business was with the schools.
Though there’s no evidence yet that the agents were conducting immigration enforcement, the incident reflects a growing trend in progressive cities like Los Angeles, where local governments and institutions routinely block federal authorities from carrying out their duties — particularly when it comes to immigration law.
This defiance comes despite the fact that federal law clearly supersedes local policies, and many of these so-called “sanctuary” moves are directly in violation of existing immigration statutes.
What’s even more alarming? These same institutions, like the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), still gladly accept billions in federal funding — 10% of LAUSD’s current revenue comes from federal dollars, and in recent years that number has reached as high as 15%.
They’re fine with taking the money — just not the law that comes with it.
President Donald Trump’s administration isn’t staying quiet. In fact, it’s taking a firm stance against sanctuary jurisdictions that continue to interfere with federal operations.
Just weeks ago, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) — also part of the DHS — announced it would no longer hold citizenship ceremonies in sanctuary cities or states, unless they’re taking place on federal property.
That policy directly affects Los Angeles and other liberal strongholds that seem more interested in protecting illegal immigrants than enforcing the law or cooperating with federal officials.
The move to block federal officers from simply entering school property — without even understanding their intent — is just another way California Democrats are politicizing public education.
Instead of focusing on improving the quality of education or student safety, LAUSD officials are doubling down on ideological agendas that make it harder for federal agents to do their job and keep communities secure.
And the message they’re sending to students and families?
Federal law doesn’t matter here.
This isn’t just a local dispute — it’s part of a much larger battle between the rule of law and radical sanctuary policies that undermine national sovereignty.
While Los Angeles school administrators play gatekeeper to federal law enforcement, millions of illegal immigrants continue to benefit from taxpayer-funded programs, and criminals slip through the cracks due to lack of cooperation between local and federal authorities.
Meanwhile, American families are left wondering:
Who’s actually in charge here?
📌 Let us know what you think — Should federal funds be cut off from cities and schools that block federal agents?
Yes, cut ALL FEDERAL FUNDS to sanctuary cities
