During an interview with Kristen Welker on this week’s Meet the Press, Vice President JD Vance took on the redistricting battle now playing out in Texas and California—one that could soon reshape the political map across the country. And once again, Vance made it clear: Democrats are crying foul while hiding the fact that they’ve been gaming the system for decades.
Vance pointed to Massachusetts as a prime example. Despite 32 percent of the state voting Republican, there isn’t a single GOP member representing them in Congress. That’s not by accident—it’s the product of carefully engineered Democratic gerrymandering. “All we’re trying to do is make things more fair,” Vance explained, highlighting that Republicans have consistently been at a disadvantage because of how Democrats have carved up their districts.
But he didn’t stop there. Vance pulled back the curtain on another little-known advantage Democrats rely on: the inclusion of illegal aliens in the census count, which is then used to determine representation in Congress. According to estimates Vance cited, California alone enjoys five extra House seats it would never have if representation were based solely on American citizens. His point was simple—if the system is to reflect true democracy, it should measure the voices of citizens, not those here unlawfully.
When Welker interjected, claiming that “undocumented” people cannot vote, Vance was quick to remind viewers that she was dodging the issue. The problem isn’t whether they can cast a ballot—the problem is that their presence still inflates representation for Democrat strongholds, diluting the political power of lawful citizens in other states. That imbalance is not only unfair, it strikes at the heart of equal representation.
This is why Democrats are melting down over redistricting. They know that once these built-in advantages are exposed and corrected, their grip on power begins to slip. That’s why we’re already seeing panic over midterm implications—add in the massive voter registration shifts toward the GOP, combined with Republicans’ growing fundraising edge, and the outlook becomes even more troubling for the left.
And if President Donald Trump follows through on fixing the census to ensure it represents citizens and citizens alone, expect Democrats to go into full-scale hysteria. For hardworking Americans who want a government that reflects their voices—not padded numbers from illegal immigration—that would be a win for fairness, accuracy, and common sense.
