A solemn prayer vigil took place in Washington, DC, on Sunday, September 14, honoring the life and legacy of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk. The gathering drew national leaders, lawmakers, and members of the Trump White House, underscoring how deeply Kirk’s assassination has shaken the country.
Speakers and participants included Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Senior Advisor for U.S. AGM Kari Lake, Congressman Andy Biggs, Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna, Congressman Eli Crane, and Arizona State Senator Jake Hoffman, among others.
“This service will be a unifying event focused on prayer, mourning, and celebrating the life, legacy, and memory of Charlie Kirk — a national treasure whose life was cut far too short,” organizers stated in the release.
Kirk was gunned down on September 10 while answering questions during a student debate at Utah Valley University. Authorities have identified the suspect as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who was reportedly in a romantic relationship with a male roommate transitioning to female. Disturbingly, one round from the alleged murder weapon was inscribed with the phrase, “Hey fascist! Catch!” — a chilling sign of the political hatred that fueled this attack.
The vigil stood as both a time of mourning and a call for strength. Kirk’s life represented a steadfast defense of free speech, faith, and America’s founding values. His assassination has become yet another reminder of the dangerous climate created when radical ideology justifies violence against those who dare to speak their minds.
While political violence has no place in a free society, the overwhelming show of unity at the vigil demonstrated that Kirk’s mission — empowering the next generation to stand for liberty and truth — will continue long after his passing. His courage in the face of hostility is a legacy that will endure.
