The White House is pushing back hard against yet another smear attempt, this time from the Wall Street Journal. On Monday, the paper published an image of a so-called “birthday card” it claims President Donald Trump sent to Jeffrey Epstein back in 2003. But the Journal’s own reporting, according to the White House, undercuts the entire story.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt blasted the article directly on X: “The latest piece published by the Wall Street Journal PROVES this entire ‘Birthday Card’ story is false. As I have said all along, it’s very clear President Trump did not draw this picture, and he did not sign it.” She added, “President Trump’s legal team will continue to aggressively pursue litigation.”
Leavitt also called out Wall Street Journal reporter Joe Palazzolo for what she described as a deliberate ambush tactic: “Furthermore, the ‘reporter’ @joe_palazzolo who wrote this hatchet job reached out for comment at the EXACT same minute he published his story giving us no time to respond. This is FAKE NEWS to perpetuate the Democrat Epstein Hoax!”
The Journal first reported on the alleged card back in July but refused to show it publicly at the time. Only now, months later, did copies surface after the House Oversight Committee received them. That hasn’t stopped critics from recycling the accusation, despite glaring questions about authenticity.
President Trump was unequivocal when asked about the story earlier this summer. “This is not me. This is a fake thing. It’s a fake Wall Street Journal story. I never wrote a picture in my life. I don’t draw pictures of women. It’s not my language. It’s not my words,” he said.
The episode is just the latest in a long line of politically motivated hit pieces timed to damage Trump as he gains momentum with voters. Instead of focusing on real issues—like inflation crushing families, or chaos abroad—the corporate press is still chasing cheap tabloid fodder. For Trump supporters, the lesson is clear: the establishment media will recycle anything, no matter how flimsy, if it helps advance the Left’s narrative.
