On Wednesday’s episode of The View, co-host Whoopi Goldberg raised eyebrows when she openly suggested it may be time to consider invoking the 25th Amendment against President Donald Trump following his address to the United Nations General Assembly.
Goldberg criticized Trump’s efforts to bring the war in Ukraine to a close, saying, “He had an opportunity to do so much more than he offered them, and they don’t consider him to be serious anymore, and I’m worried. What is the amendment, the 20—.” After some back-and-forth among the panel, co-host Sonny Hostin clarified she was referring to the 25th Amendment, which allows for the removal of a sitting president deemed unable to perform the duties of the office.
Hostin explained, “I didn’t know what you meant. You meant when you start questioning someone’s competence and mental acuity.” Goldberg doubled down, pointing out the double standard when it comes to questioning presidential fitness: “Well, they questioned Biden’s competence. If Biden had acted like this, I would have said take him and sit him down somewhere, but this was not — this was not presidential, and this was not helpful.”
Their exchange revealed what’s become a recurring theme on mainstream talk shows: dismissing Trump’s foreign policy moves while entertaining extraordinary measures against him. Goldberg insisted other nations are not laughing at America but instead “really concerned for us,” framing Trump’s shifting posture on Ukraine as potentially dangerous.
The discussion followed Trump’s address at the U.N., where he claimed progress toward ending conflicts worldwide — a move Hostin accused him of making simply to angle for a Nobel Peace Prize. “Seventy-six percent of Americans say Trump doesn’t deserve to win the Nobel Peace Prize,” she said, citing polling. “His own country doesn’t think that!”
Yet not every co-host lined up against Trump. Alyssa Farah Griffin acknowledged that while she doesn’t agree with him on everything, she welcomed his “about-face” on Ukraine and argued that if he succeeds in achieving peace, “he would deserve the award.”
For Goldberg, however, Trump’s foreign policy shifts are less about diplomacy and more about instability. She warned, “The frightening aspect of the president’s most recent about-face on Ukraine is that it will eventually lead to another about-face, and the rest of the world is concerned for America under his leadership.”
The back-and-forth on The View underscores how deeply divided the commentary class remains. Even as Trump makes high-profile attempts to broker peace, media voices default to questioning his competence — a contrast to how similar concerns about President Biden were often brushed aside. For conservatives, the larger question is whether mainstream platforms will ever engage Trump’s foreign policy on the merits, or if discussions will continue circling back to extraordinary measures like the 25th Amendment.
Really? After what the Biden administration didn’t do? Americans were screaming no more money to Ukraine for four years!! Get over your little hell hole, den of inequity! How far left can you go?
HEY GOLDBERG SHUT YOUR FILTHY PERVERT MOUTH YOU FILTHY LIBERAL WHACKO
why are these vile witches still on the air violating weak minded people? cancel this trash piece of propaganda.
Every time Whoopi Goldberg opens her mouth she just demonstrates what a reprobate mind looks like. She is to be pitied and prayed for.
She should just stop, she has no credibility after watching Biden not even be able to find his way off a stage and shaking hands with an invisible person, and saying nothing. Where was her concern then? If Trump was a democrat she would be right up his a$$ calling every move he made genious. What a bunch of phonies.
I like the way the left always refers to President Trump as Trump. It’s either Trump this or Trump that. But when it comes to Biden, it’s always under President Biden the country did this under President Biden we did that. The same goes for the president that almost destroyed this country Barack Hussein Obama. Always President Obama said this President Obama did that. President Trump has to be the greatest president in my lifetime and I was born in 1950.👍❤️🙏45🇺🇸47
