Department of Energy to Postpone Implementation of Biden’s Efficiency Standards on Appliances

A New Category for Gas Water Heaters

One of the biggest changes? A new energy efficiency category for natural gas tankless water heaters. This means these popular, low-cost water heaters will be exempt from the stricter Biden-era regulations. The goal, according to the DOE, is to prevent “onerous rules” from limiting consumer access to affordable and efficient heating options.

Trump’s Push to Reinstate His Environmental Orders

This rollback isn’t just about appliances—it’s part of a broader push by Trump to reverse Biden’s regulatory decisions on energy and household utilities.

Trump announced that he is ordering EPA Secretary Lee Zeldin to restore his previous Environmental Orders on:

🚰 Water flow standards (for sinks, showers, and toilets)
🚿 Washing machines and dishwashers
💡 Light bulb regulations

In a statement on Truth Social, Trump made it clear he plans to bring back “common sense standards” that were eliminated by the Biden administration:

“I am hereby instructing Secretary Lee Zeldin to immediately go back to my Environmental Orders, which were terminated by Crooked Joe Biden, on Water Standards and Flow pertaining to SINKS, SHOWERS, TOILETS, WASHING MACHINES, DISHWASHERS, etc., and to likewise go back to the common sense standards on LIGHTBULBS.”

Why This Matters

This move comes in response to new Biden administration regulations on home appliances that have sparked criticism for:
