Rep. Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ) is making headlines again—this time for openly declaring that illegal immigrants in Arizona are her “constituents.” Instead of focusing on the citizens who actually elect her, pay taxes, and follow the law, Ansari is busy championing individuals held in ICE detention, even going so far as to call them part of her district.
“Constituents include citizens, green card holders, DACA recipients, asylum seekers, refugees — and yes, people in ICE detention in Arizona. Members of Congress shouldn’t pick and choose who matters or who deserves help,” Ansari insisted. She later doubled down by telling a reporter, “I googled the word ‘constituent.’ The definition of constituent is somebody who is part of a community, doesn’t matter what their legal status is… I don’t care if these — if none of these individuals can vote for me; I don’t give a s**t.”
That choice of words says it all. She doesn’t care if illegal immigrants can’t vote. She’s made it clear she sees them as deserving of taxpayer-funded resources—resources that hardworking American families provide.
Thankfully, not everyone in Congress is willing to let that slide. Rep. Pat Harrigan (R-NC) fired back: “A Member of Congress who brags she had to ‘Google’ the word constituent has no business writing laws. Constituents are hardworking American citizens, the people who elect you. Not illegal aliens. Not asylum shoppers.” He added, “When you say ‘I don’t care if they can’t vote for me,’ you admit it. You don’t represent Americans, you represent everyone but them.”
When pressed on one detainee Ansari claimed was being mistreated, Harrigan fact-checked her line by line. Ansari said the woman, a supposed green card holder, was denied medical care for leukemia. Harrigan responded: “TRUTH: She’s been seen by medical staff 13 TIMES and cleared EVERY time. When arrested, she told law enforcement she had NO medical issues and took NO meds.” DHS backed him up, confirming the detainee had been arrested trying to smuggle an illegal alien with fraudulent ID.
So what’s really going on here? Ansari is pushing a narrative where illegal immigrants are elevated above the very people she was elected to represent. While citizens are struggling with inflation, crime, and an open border, she’s demanding taxpayer dollars be spent treating non-citizens as if they’re on equal footing with American families.
This kind of twisted priority—Americans last, everyone else first—exposes the heart of the Democrat agenda. When elected officials proudly declare they don’t care if their “constituents” can vote for them, it’s no longer about representation. It’s about using power to advance an ideology that undermines citizenship itself.
And that’s exactly what voters will remember in 2026.
The only way the democrats can survive is to do a 180⁰ and admit they failed the American people. Admitting they lost their way is what they need to do to regain the trust of their party. They actually believe their own lies, they brainwashed themselves.
Julia, the turnaround you dream of would require them to get in touch with reality so it is very unlikely to happen. I certainly wouldn’t trust them any more than I do now should that happen.
Well in her ‘defense’ since it is very likely that lots of them got ‘counted’ in the last census she is kinda sorta correct (she ain’t ever gonna be ‘right’).
