Report: Government Bureaucrats Tried to Stop Trump from Canceling Illegal Aliens’ Social Security Benefits

In a bold move that’s igniting fresh outrage from entrenched Washington bureaucrats, President Donald Trump’s administration is cutting off Social Security benefits for thousands of illegal aliens—many of whom were let into the country under Joe Biden’s disastrous open-border policies.

The effort, spearheaded by Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), aims to stop the misuse of vital taxpayer-funded programs like Social Security, which for years have been quietly accessed by non-citizens with little oversight.

According to internal leaks reported by the Washington Post, over 6,300 illegal aliens have already had their Social Security benefits canceled as part of this crackdown. But instead of celebrating this clear effort to protect American taxpayers, some career government workers—many of them holdovers from prior administrations—are crying foul.

Bureaucrats Fight Back

A number of current and former officials inside the Social Security Administration (SSA) reportedly tried to block the Trump administration’s efforts. In one case, Greg Pearre, a longtime SSA tech chief who oversaw hundreds of employees, was removed from his post after opposing the move. Pearre claimed the plan to move these individuals into a death database—which would make it impossible for them to legally earn wages—was “illegal and cruel.”

He wasn’t alone. Other bureaucrats inside the SSA also pushed back, with one official even resigning in protest, calling the effort “an illegal attempt to repurpose the agency for immigration enforcement.”

But to many Americans, that’s exactly what needs to happen.

For decades, Washington elites have ignored or outright enabled the abuse of federal programs by people who are not legally allowed to be in the United States. President Trump is turning that ship around, sending a clear message: No more freebies for illegal aliens.

By stripping away Social Security benefits from illegal migrants, Trump’s team is aiming to remove one of the biggest incentives that encourages people to cross the border illegally in the first place—free access to programs that should be reserved for American citizens and legal immigrants.

“The goal here is simple,” a senior official familiar with the effort said. “If you’re here illegally, you’re not going to collect Social Security checks, you’re not going to sit on taxpayer-funded benefits, and you’re not going to enjoy the privileges that belong to citizens. Period.”

And it’s not just Social Security. The DOGE recently uncovered millions of potential cases where illegal aliens were receiving benefits through Medicaid—and in some instances, were even registered on voter rolls.

Now, Trump’s administration is working fast to close those loopholes, partnering with both the IRS and ICE to better track illegal aliens through their financial and benefit usage history. This collaboration is expected to vastly improve the ability of immigration agents to locate and remove those who should not be in the country.

Political Weaponization? Or Just Doing the Job?

Naturally, the mainstream media and progressive activists are framing this as some kind of political witch hunt. But the truth is far simpler: President Trump is doing what no one in D.C. has dared to do—cut off the flow of taxpayer dollars to people who have no legal right to be in this country.
