Obama quipped, “Here’s a 78-year-old billionaire who has not stopped whining about his problems since he rode down his golden escalator nine years ago.” He added, “It has been a constant stream of gripes and grievances that’s actually been getting worse now that he is afraid of losing to Kamala.”
Former First Lady Michelle Obama also joined in, taking a jab at Trump’s comments about illegal immigration affecting minority communities. During a debate, Trump claimed that the influx of migrants was “taking Black jobs.” Michelle Obama cheekily asked the DNC crowd who would want to tell Trump that “the job he’s currently seeking might be one of those Black jobs.”
In response to these exchanges, RNC Chairman Michael Whatley remarked that the Democratic Party is no longer “Barack Obama’s Democrat Party.” He criticized Kamala Harris for pushing the party further left, citing her stance on issues like immigration, healthcare, and climate policy.
